Chukuweze On Chelsea Radar As Lampard Prepares For January Spending Spree

Chelsea scouts are compiling a list of forwards who might be able inject fresh impetus into the club’s season with Samuel Chukuweze reported to be among the targets, reports Completesports.com.

Chukuweze according to a report in telegraph.co.uk is among the high-profile names on the Blues list.

Borrussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, Wilfred Zaha who plays for Crystal Palace and Bayer Leverkusen’s Leon Bailey are also among the targets.

Strikers Timo Werner and Moussa Dembele are also on Chelsea’s radar but the participation of their clubs in the last-16 of the UEFA Champions League would appear to make a January deal for either man difficult.

Asked in the past about Chelsea, Chukwueze said: “I was supporting Chelsea. I used to support every team that featured a Nigerian. So my love for Chelsea then was because of Mikel.

“Maybe in future, a movement is possible but right now my attention is on Villarreal. I want to focus well on my club and gain more confidence. Maybe when the time is ripe, I can move.”

Chukuweze broke into Villarreal ‘s first team last season and scored five goals in 26 league appearances.

He was also voted the Yellow Submarines young player of the season.

The 20-year-old was among the 10 players shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy for 2019 , which is Ballon d’Or’s award for the best performing player under the age of 21.

Chukuweze eventually finished in joint ninth position.

    If only this is true..
I think he might fit in well.. There isn’t a natural left winger that will act as a big competitor for him.. Secondly, lampard(Chelsea’s coach) has been parading younger players…
So, with Sammy’s experience, he might just fit in well into Chelsea’s playing pattern..

Let’s hope so. I would hate for him to go to Chelsea and become a bench warming material. Much better to continue his development at Villareal, if regular football can’t be GUARANTEED at Chelsea.

He must n I mean must emphasize regular playing time on whatever might be signed otherwise he had Better remain where he is. Chuzzy is not the type of player to come and be used as training materials for those mediocre English players who the English media n FA are doing everything to promote to the detriment of foreign players.

I don’t subscribed to this idea of Samu going to Chelsea at this stage of his career, this is just his second full season in top flight football, continuation in his development to be a better player in Villarreal won’t be a bad idea. He needs time to fully hit the ground running. MO Salah is a typical example to this effect, he was signed by Chelsea in his second season in FC Basel but struggled in his first season in blues color, sitting on bench in most part of the season, he had to signed for AS Roma to discovered his fine form he came back to EPL and the result is there for all of us to see. Sometimes it’s not advisable rushing our talents to bigger clubs at expense of their gradually development into super stars, Samu and Osimhen need to stay at their clubs for at least two more season for then to be fully matured to play for any big European clubs like chelsea, Madrid etc .
