Dennis In Action As Sanchez Breaks Watford’s Heart With Late Minute Strike

Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Dennis was in action in Watford 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Nigerian international, who was making his 17th appearance, could not replicate his goal scoring form against Spurs.

Dennis was substituted in the 46th minute for Joao Pedro.

However, Davinson Sanchez netted the much needed goal in the 96th minute to break Watford’s heart when he nodded the ball from close range into the net, to earn Tottenham the maximum points.

The victory means Spurs sit 6th on 33 points while Watford sit 17th on the Premier League log.

Chima E Samuel’s, please respectfully express your disagreement with other fans, especially when they have not insulted you. Not everyone will want view Dennis favorably given his current relationship with Super Eagles’ fans.
Let him focus on his Watford while we face the AFCON.

Are you making any sense? They’re wishing the player ill luck who’s the strange being here? Body sweet you Sha dey come write nonsense.

        • Naija 2 years ago

          Chima,
I will still show you respect even if you go low. And if they are wishing Dennis bad luck, so what????. Dennis isn’t the only player that has been attacked by aggrieved fans in the past. Ighalo and his family were attacked on social media shortly after Russia 2018. Fans have booed and pelted the SE in the past when they played below expectation.
Football is taken too passionately by some fans and that’s the nature of the game. Remember you were crossed with NFF yesterday when Amoo wasn’t included in the final list?

Nigerians have now cursed Watford /Dennis , they are now relegation bound , don’t joke with Benin people !!

Not too bad from Ekong today. Did ok against two of the most difficult forwards in the world to play against – Kane and Son.
A nice confidence booster for Ekong going into the Afcon. Hope he keeps improving.

It is all pump and no air. Watford will go down. They can keep Dennis all they want. Thank God, that Rohr gave us Ighalo before he was unfortunately sacked.

  • MuYiwa 2 years ago

Ekong played 90 mins, CSN why did you omit that. Dennis had the lowest rating 3/10 according to 90min.com. Troost got 6/10. Before somebody here will say the latter is not regarded by Ranieri. Hope your Messi doesn’t turn out to be a flash in the pan, one season wonder kind of player.

    • Tell them bro. Pride come before fall. If not for ekong on the line up, I won’t watch the match, but to my surprise mr CR7 didn’t even touch the ball during us 45minutes ahhhhh.

  • FrankL 2 years ago

Stop blaming Dennis!….Am sure he is as disappointed as all of us to miss afcon.Blame incompetent nff instead

    • Edoman 2 years ago

He is not disappointed. He disrespects Nigeria. Dennis will, from now on, shall not attain his full potentials. He will not be recon with again to play for Nigeria during the forthcoming World Cup matches. He starts to develop biscuit legs already. Watford will definitely go down to division two once again. Dennis choose Club over his Country.

  • The undisciplined Dennis is now the player fans are so bitter about because he is missing the Afcon?…… Football is very dynamic and it changes in a twinkle of an eye……If Watford goes down, Dennis is most likely not going down with them but the same can not be said of Ekong,Etebo, success, bashiru, okoye, and many other Players of Nigerian decent in Watford……. Little did you guys know that Dennis did not sign a strong and long term contract with Watford and already many EPL clubs have started looking at his vulnerable contract with Watford…….. Dennis has broken records this season and that has not gone unnoticed by other clubs……. Dennis has also removed that undisciplined tag club Brugge placed on him because he refused to be used as a goose that must lay the golden egg……..So in all ways it’s a win win for Dennis and international football is still wide open to him because the Nigerian Football environment is always changing so also the international career of a talented player can change…….. Watford has the most Nigerian players in the EPL history and it’s very sad that fans can wish a big chunk of Nigerian international players to sink with Watford just because Dennis will get hit too.

    • Steve O 2 years ago

You are talking trash , your analysis is based on presumption!!..if Watford goes down , Dennis value will also go down .What ever contract he signed with Watford, it is still under thier control , they will still insist on having him in the championship , unless the price is beyond what they can reject .Dennis not going to Afcon is a blessing to others, rest assured Afcon will afford us another set of surprise players and if Dennis is dreaming of playing at the world cup or being called again , then he must be smoking something , NFF listen to the fans and we fans has banned him from the national team !!..He is an undisciplined and egocentric man , we don’t need a player who will pollute the national team.

  • Thank you u are the only one with sense here if Watford are relegated Dennis will be gone, but the others are not going anywhere is it maduka okoye that just jion that will now leave. Pls stop cursing Watford I even wanted Dennis to stay but it came at a bad timing osimhen gone also

  • it looks like Watford are trying to play the same game they played with Nigeria and succeeded with Senegal by not releasing ismaila sarr for the AFCON. But its looks like the Senegalese officials are ready to give them a good fight.

  • But why are people heaping all the blame on Dennis, hating Ranieri, and wishing Watford relegation while turning a blind eye to the real culprit – NFF for late player release request.

Let’s not forget there are actually 5 Afcon-bound African players under Ranieri.

Isnaila Sarr – Senegal (Star player)
    Adam Masina – Morroco
    Imran Louza – Morocco
    William Ekong – Nigeria

So why would Ranieri tie up Dennis with a rope NFF supplied him and overlook deadly Senegalese star, Sarr and others? Even Ekong too is an important player to him.

I think it was all in the politics of the shadowy initial 40-man list by Rohr. Very likely, Rohr known for swimming in familiar waters only and not inclined to changing his trusted soldiers, put players like Dennis on standby. NFF, as usual, didn’t do their homework to correct any lapses. So player release request for AFCON was sent for Ekong (sure Senegal and Morroco did same for their players).

With Rohr gone, Eguavoen felt Dennis should be in the main – not supplementary – list. So he upgraded him, letter sent but deadline missed. If you were Dennis, what would you do? Watford, not NFF, pays his salary and gives him a big platform/exposure to showcase his talents, raise his market value and therefore earning potential.

Rohr never gave him that chance and didn’t seem he would. Sometimes, people force you to come off as arrogant and uncaring, especially when you’re keenly aware of your unexplored abilities. With Rohr, players like Dennis, Olayinka, Awoniyi, Nwakali, Adeleye, Kingsley Michael etc will remain on the fringes – as long as his favoured players are still active. He was the classic Mr Play Safe, No Adventure.
