Bag 20 goals for Rangers but struggle to score 1 for Nigeria!

    • Sean 1 week ago

Is there any striker that haven’t struggled in Super Eagles color?
Is Onuachu replicating his club form in super Eagles?
What of Awoniyi? Sadiq nko? Or what of Osimhen with a goal or two for a team that got to final of a tournament ?
Get a good coach to blend this players . If we can call a player from Tanzania and another from YumYum FC, I see no reason why Dessers is not good for our team.

      • Greenturf 1 week ago

Our recent friendlies exposed Dessers with unpardonable misses.
We shouldn’t have lost the game against Mali had he finished the one on one chances he blew away, his missed chances may have cost Finidi the super eagles job.
Aside chances missed, his performances was poor.I wouldn’t rate a player who failed in a top five league but thrive in a farmers Scottish league.
If you can’t blossom in a top 5 league chances are that you’ll struggle in a super eagles colour because that’s super eagles equivalent.

Good observation, Bro. Such am irony that at the time we are having the best collection of strikers, we are struggling to score goals to finish our opponents.

    • Coache 1 week ago

Our midfielders are not good and don’t create.great chances. The wingers are wayward. With Iwobi in that midfield, forget goals. Yekini had Oliseh, Finidi George before the USA 94 conspiracy.

We need rugged midfielders who are bold and fearless. Not sideways backward passerswho cannot even dribble conveniently.

      • Dr. Drey 1 week ago

With iwobi in that midfield, forget about goals…..but iwobi is always at the centre of every positive forward move of the team for years now.

No other person has been able to do his job in the entire team. Anytime iwobi does not play, the entire SE does not play.

The fact that you call yourself “Coachee” and still cannot see these things is worrisome.

Only God knows what sin Iwobi has committed in choosing to play for Nigeria.

        • Greenturf 1 week ago

Iwobi apparently,is one of Nigeria’s best attacking midfielders of all time.
Like you rightly said, without Iwobi in the super eagles,we’re done for.
Furthermore,Iwobi has been consistent since his emergence.
I will rate him top 3 best attacking midfielder of all time in Nigeria’s football history.

Some comment sha…. This country is not meant for reasonable people.

The question is: why do our strikers flourish in Europe but struggle in SE shirt?

  • JimmyBall 1 week ago

Yet they will still callup Sadiq Umar… a.k.a NFF Boy. Osimhen, Moffi, Dessers, and Akpom… Awoniyi is not reliable… too injury prone!

  • It’s true that even osimehn Doesn’t score in all his matches but the impact is there he always carries two or more defenders with him which makes way for lookman or other strickers to score but dessers can’t score zero impact no vision

    • Sean 1 week ago

“Dessers can’t score, Zero Impact” but the headline is saying something contrary 20 goals already, even with his limited games for super Eagles, he had scored 2-3 goals.
I’ll choose him over Sadiq anytime

    • Ignatius Abo 1 week ago

Sadiq Umar is far better than Dessers. Even Isaac Success is far better than Dessers.

  • My brother we are talking about super eagle not club and if you are okay with his matches with super eagle fine.

  • Hope West 1 week ago

The same Sadiq Umar you claim to be better than Dessers was a flop during his stint with Rangers Fc and only has one tap in goal for Super Eagles in many matches contrary to Dessers’s contribution in the Eagles colour in fewer matches.

This’s my own way of tackling the goal-scoring puzzle of the Super Eagles because I know we’ve got strikers that should be netting goals left, right, and center, but they seem to be misfiring more than a faulty water gun at a summer fair.

This is the dealio. For starters, our midfield is as creative as a blank canvas. We’re talking about a bunch of players who couldn’t thread a needle even if it was the size of a haystack. Without some midfield maestros pulling the strings like the Jay Jay Okocha and Sunday Olishe of the 90s, our strikers, even if they were Rashidi Yekini, Julius Aghahowa, Japhet Ndoram and George Weah combined, will basically be running around like some genius without their thinking cap on in the final third.

Then there’s the coaching situation. We need someone with the tactical finesse of a chess grandmaster to whip our players into shape. I’m talking about a coach who can turn a striker into a midfield wizard with a wave of their tactical wand. Westerhoff did this to some of our players those days. Until we get that, we’re just spinning our wheels.

And let’s not even get started on our scouting system. It’s like they’re using a metal detector to find gold nuggets in a haystack. We need to up our game and start unearthing gems like Jay-Jay Okocha in the attacking midfield department. Is that too difficult for Eguaveon and his technical department to do? All we hear is pretry grammar polishing some shades of failed promises. Can’t they just pay a visit to the Clairefontaine and at least 8 of the 16 academies in and around France and ask the officials of those football schools how they do it or even the FFF what their technical people do that makes the Le Blues so thick in the midfield?

As things stand now, we’re stuck with a squad full of square pegs in round holes, and we don’t seem to realize this by always claiming to be the best in Africa. A team that is not fully turned in the frying pan of tactical balance shouldn’t claim to be the best.

What exactly is the deal with our numerous local, independent, profit-motivated academies churning out strikers like they’re going out of fashion? They focus more on producing gangling strikers and wing wizards who they think have better market value than midfielders in the international market. I guess they are scared to take the bull by the horn and challenge the notion that European football academies are more adept at churning out technically sophisticated midfielders than most Nigerian football academies, hence no need to focus on that side of business. They just forget about it. Shame! It’s like they’re allergic to passing and dribbling drills. We really need to shake things up and start nurturing some midfield prodigies alongside our goal-scoring machines. Who still remembers Rabiu Ibrahim from the stables of Coach Yemi Tella of blessed memory. So sad that the player once touted as the new Jay Jay didn’t really realize his full potential.

Now, let’s talk about poor Alex Iwobi. Like @Deo observed, the guy’s been shouldering the burden of our attacking midfield for years, and yet he gets more flak than a burnt pancake. So sad! We need to Cut the guy some slack o! While he could be sometimes awkward in his approach and delivery, dude has been holding it down for the most part while the rest of the squad figure out which way is up.

In a nutshell, we’ve got some serious work to do if we want to start banging in goals like there’s no tomorrow. It’s time to get our midfield mojo back, find a coach who knows their stuff, revamp our scouting system, and start churning out midfield maestros like it’s nobody’s business. Until then, we’ll just have to cross our fingers and hope for the best.

Congratulations to Dessers. I’m very happy for him.

I’m not satisfied with him yet because he hasn’t reached his potentials yet but he’s always improving and have to take his chances in front of goal in both his club side and at the national team.

That said kę. At the national team, hmm that is different entirely.

This is why Amunike have to be the next coach of the Super Eagles.

I love the relationship between Amunike Oshimen and other players at the under 17.

More so, Amunike need to change the way our midfielders and the entire team plays.

Our strikers are not clinical enough in front of goal. From Oshimen to Ayoniyi and now Dessers at the national team.

This should a concern for Amunike. I think the problem is, our strikers are more relaxed and taking the national team for granted. Simply put, indiscipline.

Another thing is, calmness. If you are not calm and well calculated as a striker, you will keep misfiring in front of goal.

Our main strikers now are Oshimen, Boniface, Dessers and Moffi.

Amunike have to figure out the system and utilize each striker and every strikers to their potentials.

Let’s be patient with our strikers. Amunike will solve the problem of the Super Eagles problems. Although Amunike can not do it alone without supporting him. Let’s work together to achieve our goals. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
