Cyriel Dessers scored two goals and provided an assist, as Genk got their first win of the new Belgian league season after downing Standard Liege 3-1 on Sunday.
Dessers has now scored three goals in two league games for Genk.
He opened his account for the new campaign in last weekend’s 3-2 loss away to champions Club Brugge.
Dessers gave Genk the lead in the fifth minute and provided the assist for his side’s second goal scored by Mike Tresor.

In the 24th minute Standard Liege pulled a goal back thanks to Denis Dragus.
And in the 29th minute Dessers got his second to put Genk 3-1 ahead when he converted from the penalty spot.
With four minutes left Dessers was replaced by South African striker Andras Nemeth.
The win took Genk up to fifth on three points after two games in the 18-team league table.

I said this so often not because Dessers wasn’t good during his first attempt at Genk and thank God that he’s proving me right.
Onuachu is the Genk top scorer and it will be harder for the second striker to get a chance to play.
Now that Paul Onuachu is injured, the second striker is doing the job for the club. I hope Edoman and others that said Dessers wasn’t a complete striker or saying he’s not good enough to compete with Onuachu can now see his quality? I hope our lackadaisical attitudes in capping Cyriel would not count against Nigeia,if Belgium deem it fit to give him second look ahead of World Cup in Qatar

That’s the fear man.. We don’t any competitive game till next year march and Belgium can call him for their world cup games if he keeps banging in the goals..
I doubt if Nigerians will forgive pesiro if that happens considering we had already won our last match yet desser could not get even a seconds of that game
