Diogu Targets Good Outing With D’Tigers At 2019 FIBA World Cup

D’Tigers captain Ike Diogu is looking forward to a brilliant outing on his debut for Nigeria at the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in China but has warned that none of their group opponents must be taken
for granted.
Nigeria have been drawn in Group B alongside Russia, Argentina, and Korea. Diogu believes every team in their pool is a threat.
“We feel very good with our draw. In order to get respect worldwide, the road we must travel through is Europe meaning we have to play the best European teams to get the respect Africa deserves,” Diogu, a two-time Olympian, told FIBA.com.”
“It’s the biggest stage for me. I’ve never played in the World Cup so I’m extremely excited to be a part of this and the guys want to make sure we do something special that the continent has not seen.”
“All these teams are a threat. We can’t take any of them lightly because they all have the ability to beat us. Argentina is one of the best in the world as is Russia, so we have a very tough task in front of us.”
Diogu was one of the D’Tigers top performers during the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 African Qualifiers.
He scored in double-figures in all but two games, amassing 186 points from 12 Games as the Nigerian team topped Group F with 10 wins in 12 games.
The 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in China holds from Saturday, 31 August to Sunday, 15 September 2019 in eight cities in China.
