Former Super Eagles interim technical adviser Augustine Eguavoen says he does not see himself as a failure despite the team’s unimpressive showing under his tutelage, reports Completesports.com.

Eguavoen took charge of the Super Eagles on interim basis following the sacking of German Gernot Rohr on the eve of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The Super Eagles exited the competition in the second round despite a promising start, which saw win all their group stage matches in convincing fashion.

The former defender was retained for the 2022 FIFA World Cup playoffs against the Black Stars of Ghana.

The team failed to secure a place at the mundial losing on away goal rule to their eternal rivals.

“I don’t see myself as a failure, I don’t have regret taking the Super Eagles job. I can’t reject the call to serve,”Eguavoen said while appearing as a guest on Monday Night Football on Supersport.

“Maybe the Super Eagles players don’t have the character, I used the word maybe. I also think the emotion was overwhelming.”

*** DOES ANY NIGERIA KNOW REASON WHY THIS PEOPLE ARE CLAMOURING FOR THE HIRING OF LOCAL COACHES FOR SUPER EAGLE. THE REASON IS FOR THEIR PERSONAL SELFISH INTEREST. THEY WANT TO BE INTRODUCING PLAYERS TO COACHES IN ORDER TO DO BUSINESS.

Shut up. A coach who won 4 out of 7 matches is a winner. Must every country go to the World cup? Besides, Uzoho accepted his error only yesterday and I hope you never waited on Eguavoen to enter the pitch to hold Thomas Partey. That wasn’t going to be possible. From the look of things, Eguavoen is likely to be given 4 years to enable him involve the local league properly. Just watch!

So you guys don’t have any shame or remorse??? Eguavoen just brought national disgrace and shame on Nigerian fans and to the nation twice thereby making us loose out of the forth coming world cup and He is out almost immediately looking for another job…

      Wicked and unrepentant generation!!!

I don’t think Eguavoen is to blame from our WC exit.

Continuity is necessary and I don’t think Eguavoen is a bad coach. His players, particularly the goal keepers let him down and if they can work on this and beef up the midfield, he can go a long way with the team.

An entirely new coach would have to start from scratch trying to know the SE players and would not know where attention is more needed to make a good team.

The swift transition from EGUA-DIOLA to EGUA-FAILURE is indeed stunning.
Now the name suggestions are flowing freely: EGUA-FLOP, EGUA-NONSENSE, EGUA-RUBBISH. I even heard EGUA-SNAFU somewhere.
Nigeria fans, make unu forgive the poor guy. He is a scapegoat.

If he’s not a failure what is he?. He’s now blaming the players,

I don’t see myself as a failure, I don’t have regret taking the Super Eagles job. I can’t reject the call to serve,”Eguavoen said while appearing as a guest on Monday Night Football on Supersport.

“Maybe the Super Eagles players don’t have the character, I used the word maybe. I also think the emotion was overwhelming.”

Who made the player selection ?

Eguavouen has carved his name in history as one of the worst coaches ever to handle the Eagles if not the worst. Trying to absolve himself of blame by shifting the blame to the players. He is the absolute worst.

You have just said all my brother.
A coach is as good as his last result. He was at the bench when we lost the 2006 world cup ticket..Since then till now is a good 16 years. How has he improved himself till now. He failed to qualify us for the 2012 Olympics as well.
He also handled some local clubsides in between this period. What were the outcomes of his coaching. Did any of those local teams he handled won the Nigeria local leagues? Did any of the local teams he coached won the CAF Champions league or at least got to the Semi Finals or Finals?
We don’t tell ourselves the truth in this country.
The Super Eagles are doing very well in their clubsides,we just need the best coaches to handle them.
Imagine Eguavoen talk of playing wing football in 2022?
It is well Nigerians take heart.

Rhor had one nation’s cup in hi stay, he qualified and won bronze. A competition that Nigeria did not qualify for in two consecutive years. It was even increased to 24 teams from the normal 16 team.
He had one Word cup in his stay, he qualified and went to the second round. The qualification was his first task in a group that had Cameroon, Algeria and Zambia. It was also two legged game.
Rhor has always met the target given to him. He might be regid and not fancy but results were coming.
95% of Rhors team is with Eguavon.
        So what changed?

You are not a failure but you invited failure kę. You were not expecting a failure but you accepted Salisu Yusuf, Aigbogun and Agu that were not capable to rescue you when you was down.

Of course you are not a failure, you invited Ighalo, Akpeyi, Shehu and John Noble into your team while you ignored Dessers, Adele and Osagwe.

The world cup list showed how biased you were coach Eguavoen. Who does that kę. Aba, I don’t celebrate failure and I don’t follow people blindly.

You are not good enough I am not sorry to say this. You allowed Amaju to pushed you around. Kai, you need to apologize to us. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!

After the noise, tell us who is better qualified as the coach of the super eagles than Eguavoen, that is what will interest the NFF. To me sha, if Rohr did spent 6 years to win only Afcon bronze, Eguavoen deserves more than 3 months. Even with the few months, he played 7 matches and lost only 1. That is an excellent mark. I’m not NFF that will decide so nobody should abusive me o,

Eguavoen needs to look up the meaning of ‘failure’ in a dictionary or go to a psychiatric hospital for a brain scan.

Eguavon….As far as I’m concerned, you’re a complete failure. You have failed in numerous tasks that you have been assigned as a coach. Please if you don’t know what the definition of a failure is,then you need to back to primary school or look up the dictionary and see what’s the definition of a failure

You are a failure because you want to reape where you did not sow. You want to take another man glory from back, you and NFF ndi oshi. I told you guys earlier that karma is on the way. Black man think karma is not existing that’s why they commit crime all over the world. Una think say to build team na Moyimoyi.

You are a big faliure because you haven’t put a propr tactical process for tow legs fixtures versus Black stars for qualification to the WCQ;so you ought to make a proper change on Super Eagles tactic versus Black Stars like to play with 3-5-2 with high pressure and combative playing in order to control Ghana midfield then control over Partey who is dengerous player of Ghana who controlled the pich midfield;you instructed Iheancho to control him but Iheancho didn’t perform the mission tightly then made a gap for Partey to shoot from distance then scored a sudden goal; this mission you(Eguavoen) ought to give it for Semyi Ajayi who can cover Partey like his shadow then palsies Ghana midfield moves and locomotations, then Ghana can’t score or control over SE; there wasn’t a genius goal scoring by strikers just Osimhen, Ighalo and Aribo who could pass the ball to Osimhen but he shot over the bar.I think you couldn’t find this chance again Mr. Eguavoen so you are a big loser and loser.

My brorher eguavon i understand and agree with you that you are not a failiure but the problem is that you fail to explain yourself well, imagine you tell nigerians that the NFF fail them not you because they know your CV that you don’t have what it take to coach super eagle and they also know that you fail with U17,U20,U23 and super eagle even with clubs in the local League and that success is your worst enemie and they went ahead to appoint you as eagle coach because any body that want to win anything must go for the best you cannot take anything you see. So my brorher eguavon lean to explain yourself next time. Nonsense
