Team Nigeria’s Samuel Ogazi produced a stunning performance to win the gold medal in the men’s 400m at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Saturday.
Ogazi stormed to victory in commanding fashion, finishing ahead of Trinidad and Tobago’s Jereem Richards, who settled for silver in 44.82 seconds, while South Africa’s Zakithi Nene claimed the bronze medal with a time of 45.21 seconds.
Fellow Nigerian Edidiong Okon Udo, who also featured in the final, crossed the line in 45.81 seconds to finish eighth.

In the women’s 400m final, Ella Onojuvwevwo added to Team Nigeria’s medal haul by securing the bronze medal.
She clocked 51.00 seconds, agonisingly missing out on silver by just 0.01 seconds.
Jamaica’s Dejanea Oakley claimed the gold medal in 50.21 seconds, while Barbados’ Sada Williams took silver with a time of 50.99 seconds.
