GOtv Boxing Night 18 Holds In Ibadan; Joseph Headlines 8-bout Event With African Title Defence

All roads lead to Ibadan, Oyo state as Gotv Boxing Night returns to the indoor Sports Hall of Liberty Stadium on Easter Sunday, the organizers, FlyKite Productions announced in Lagos on Tuesday.

Boss of FlyKite Promotions, Jenkins Alumona acknowledged that the Oyo state capital which will be hosting the event for the third time got the nod to host the 18th edition of the boxing night because the last edition held at the same venue in July last year was sold out.

“Ibadan is obviously a top choice because it’s always a sellout. And on Easter Sunday at the indoor sports hall of Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, we expect fight fans to throng the venue,” Alumona said.

GOtv Boxing Night 18 will be headlined by the African Boxing Union (ABU) lightweight title defence between reigning champion, Oto Joseph of Nigeria and Success Tetteh of Ghana.

Joseph, who is undefeated since turning pro in 2015 has promised to send his opponent to the cleaners.

“I have fought many fighters from Ghana, so fighting Tetteh is not a problem for me. My fans should prepare for a good fight, I expect to knock him out before the end of round six,” Joseph who represented Nigeria at the 2014 Commonwealth games boasted.

Home boy, Akeem “Dodo” Sadiku is expected to keep Ibadan fans asking for more when he squares up with Republic of Benin’s Ekpresso Djamihou in an international light middleweight challenge.

Another Ibadan based boxer, Ridwan “Scorpion” Oyekola, to two-time winner of Gotv best boxer award is expected to entertain fans in a national super featherweight title bout.

Oyekola fights old timer, Taofeek Bisuga.
