15 times winner of the Champions League, 36 times of LaLiga, 20 times Copa del Rey, and more silverware that would take eternity if I start talking about them.
In short, if I discuss only the numbers, Real Madrid is the greatest club to ever exist on the planet Earth. Well, some of the fans say that their earlier success came through the favoritism of General Franco and other Spanish executives who were fans of the club – I won’t talk about that.
Instead, I will be diving deep into the roots of the club’s aura that helps whoever joins the team with an endless winning mentality. How come they have so many titles? Why do most of the superstars want to play for them? And how are they so good at turning around the moments?
I will be answering such questions today. So, join me as I unfold the great history.
The Club’s History
Do you know the first five Champions League titles were won by none other than Real Madrid?
It’s a fantastic history. The club has been a dominant force since its foundation, and it has been visible on the pitch in this and the last century: FIFA recognized the achievements of the club and awarded them with the Club of the Century. This is the only club to ever receive this recognition.
They have been successful not just in the Champions League, LaLiga titles too have been dominated by them.
Speaking of LaLiga, do you know how crazy the current season is going?!
Initially, Barca was on top and then they dropped points to pave the way for Real Madrid to be on top. Then Real Madrid dropped some points and Barca exploited the advantage to be on top again because of the goal difference.
It is going to be worth watching this race so, I have subscribed to Spectrum TV for high-definition live streaming of these matches in Spanish commentary. You can contact Spectrum servicio al cliente en español if your mother tongue is Spanish and you need to upgrade your TV, internet, or phone.
On top of that, legends of the game like Zidane, Cristiano, Nazario, Beckham, Ramos, and more have played for Real Madrid. Every player who plays there has a lot to be proud of and this reflects in their mentality.
For Real Madrid, it isn’t over until the final whistle has been blown. That is why they win games even though their performance is poor for most of the match.
Remember the comebacks against Manchester City and Chelsea?
At least one of the players from the starting-11 comes in clutch. Sometimes it could be their striker (the way Benzema did), and some other times it’s their goalkeeper (Courtois) that bails them out.
Simply put – they have fuel ready when it comes to putting an end to the game. And I think the reason for that mentality comes from the club’s legendary history.

Elite Club Management
I give that to Perez and the people who were there before him. There have been times when Real Madrid wasn’t performing well, yet they were much better than the bad days for other teams.
This shows how foolproof they have been in the long term. From their squad planning to scouting kids around the globe, all their moves add to the quality they have on the pitch and the bench.
Apart from the squad planning and scouting, they are really good at managing their books. I mean, look at the time of the pandemic when they balanced the books so well that they registered the season as a net positive, even though Santiago Bernabeu, along with the other recreational spaces was closed.
On the flip side, FC Barcelona (their most bitter rival) was in deep financial woes which can still be felt today. They had to sell their assets to get their finances settled and register players.
The Los Blancos are good at selling their players too. They always have the upper hand when it comes to negotiating the transfer fee for their players, mainly because of the Real Madrid brand and their healthy financial situation.
All in all, they are good at managing the overall fundamentals of a club.
The Sporting Success Because of the First and Second Reason
From the Galacticos to the Galanctios 2.0, their team has been one of the favorites to win the major competition at the club football level.
They, in the past, have demolished one of the best teams in Europe – Juventus, Bayern, and Liverpool. No club in modern football has won the Champions League three consecutive times besides Real Madrid. I am not even counting the first five Champions League they won in the nascent tournament.
However, they haven’t been that good in LaLiga. Their rivals at Barca are more successful in modern football in LaLiga titles.
Anyhow, these are the reasons I believe causing Real Madrid’s fantastic success as a club. If you do not agree, you can always drop down your comment and I might incorporate your views in my next post.
