Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo has used the international break to underline his commitment to the club, even as fresh links with Real Madrid continue to circulate.
The 23-year-old has travelled to join Ecuador for their upcoming friendlies, arriving to a strong reception from fans in Leganés. However, the noise around him is not only about his national team duties.
Reports in Ecuador have again pushed the idea that Real Madrid are looking for a midfielder in his profile, placing Caicedo into that conversation.
That comes after a demanding season at Chelsea, where the Ecuadorian has grown into one of the most reliable figures in Liam Rosenior’s midfield.
According to FBref data, Caicedo ranks among the squad’s leaders for tackles, interceptions and progressive passes, while also maintaining high availability across competitions.
He has already surpassed 40 appearances this season, adding a handful of assists and consistently operating as the team’s defensive anchor.
His role has become clearer over time. Early adaptation questions have faded, and he is now a guaranteed starter in big matches.
Chelsea’s structure relies heavily on his ability to recover possession and move the ball forward quickly. That context makes any external interest particularly relevant for the London club.
Speaking to reporters (via Sport Witness) while on international duty, Moisés Caicedo made his stance clear when asked directly about Real Madrid.
“I’m focused on my club. I have a contract with Chelsea and I want to be a legend there, if God allows it. My intention is to stay there and finish in the best way,” he said.
He also gave a broader update on his current condition and mindset: “I’m very well, thank God. Very prepared for what’s coming now.”
The midfielder kept his answers consistent throughout, repeatedly pointing back to Chelsea and his desire to continue developing there.
Even when discussing the Champions League, he avoided looking elsewhere, despite the heavy aggregate defeat to PSG.
“Many incredible things happen in the Champions League, that’s why it’s so special. But I focus more on my team. We are progressing well.”
