Manchester United have been charged by the FA with failing to ensure their players โconducted themselves in an orderly fashionโ during Sundayโs Premier League defeat to Liverpool Anfield.
Unitedโs players surrounded referee Craig Pawson midway through the first half after Virgil van Dijk challenged David de Gea in the air.
Roberto Firmino subsequently scored but his goal was disallowed following a VAR review of Van Dijkโs clash with De Gea.
De Gea was booked by Pawson for his protests.
A statement from the FA read: โManchester United FC has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20(a).
โIt is alleged that the club failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 26th minute of the Premier League fixture against Liverpool FC on Sunday (19/1/20).โ
Manchester United have until Thursday to respond to the charge.
โMaybe I shouldnโt talk too much about that,โ said United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his press conference on Tuesday.
โLetโs get that decision done. Itโs overturned [the decision]. I reacted myself because it was a foul.โ
United lost 2-0 at Anfield, their second defeat in three Premier League matches which leaves them five points outside the top four.
