After a 2-2 draw in Friday’s international friendly game with Saudi Arabia, the Super Eagles will take on Mozambique in another friendly.
The game comes up on Monday, 16 October 2023, inside the Estadio Municipal De Albufeira.

MOZAMBIQUE 0-1 NIGERIA (1999 – Friendly Game)
Mozambique’s first meeting against the Super Eagles was a friendly game in Maputo on 17 August 1999.
In action for the Eagles are goalkeeper Murphy Akanji, Muisi Ajao, Baldwin Bazuaye, Thomas Ekoja, Teslim Fatusi, Sunday Johnson, Kingsley Obiekwu, Gabriel Okolosi, Dandy Okougo, Patrick Ovie and John Zaki.
The Eagles, under Dutch coach Thijs Libregts, triumphed over Mozambique 1-0 thanks to Okolosi’s strike.
MOZAMBIQUE 0-0 NIGERIA (2009 – South Africa 2010 World Cup Qualifiers/1st Leg)
On 29 March 2009, Mozambique hosted the Super Eagles in Maputo, in the first-leg, match day 1 group stage for the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Other teams in the group were Carthage Eagles of Tunisia and Harambee Stars of Kenya.
After 90 minutes of football, Mozambique and the Eagles settled for a goalless draw.

NIGERIA 1-0 MOZAMBIQUE (2009 – South Africa 2010 World Cup Qualifiers/2nd Leg)
Match day 5 of the qualifiers saw the Eagles host Mozambique on 11 October 2009 inside the MKO Abiola stadium in Abuja.
The Eagles needed an outright win to remain in the race for the sole ticket in the qualifiers.
After being frustrated for most parts of the game, Obinna Nsofor netted in the 93rd minute to secure a 1-0 win.
The Eagles eventually qualified for the 2010 World Cup after defeating Kenya 3-2 in Nairobi while Tunisia lost 1-0 to Mozambique in Maputo.
NIGERIA 3-0 MOZAMBIQUE (Angola 2010 AFCON, Group Stage)
The Eagles and Mozambique were drawn in the same group for the Angola 2010 Africa Cup of Nations.
After losing 3-1 to Egypt in their group opener, the Eagles beat Benin Republic 1-0 in their second game.
Their final group fixture saw the three-time AFCON winners thrash Mozambique 3-0, thanks to a brace from Osaze Odemwingie and a solitary strike from Obafemi Martins.
