Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha will join the England squad for their pre-World Cup training camp in Florida, United States.
This was confirmed by Liverpool in a statement released on their official website, liverpoolfc.com, on Friday.
Tuchel Explains Ngumoha’s Inclusion In Pre-World Cup Training Camp
According to Liverpool, head coach Thomas Tuchel in his press conference, revealed that Ngumoha has been selected as one of four additional players who will participate in their preparation camp in Palm Beach.
Tuchel said: “We will take some young players out who will train with us and keep the squad in the size that we need, so that we have all the possibilities also for the two friendly matches to take care about the minutes and the load of the players.
“So, this will be: Alex Scott is confirmed, Rio Ngumoha is confirmed and Josh King, and there will be one more player that we cannot name because it’s not confirmed yet. But I am happy that these guys are with us.”
England’s camp will run from June 1-13, with Tuchel’s team to play friendlies against New Zealand (June 6) and Costa Rica (June 10) during that time.
Their opening group-stage game at the World Cup is versus Croatia on June 17.

Ngumoha scored two goals and provided one assist in 18 appearances in the Premier League this season.
Still Eligible To Represent Nigeria
He is still eligible to play for Nigeria since his only appearance for England at international level is in the U-15s, U-16s, U-17s and U-19s.
Recently, he was captured in a photo putting on Nigeria’s iconic 1996 Jersey which generated reactions on social media.
Records At Liverpool
On 25 August, Ngumoha made his Premier League debut as an added-time substitute for Cody Gakpo and scored in the 10th minute of stoppage time, securing a 3–2 away win over Newcastle United and becoming the youngest goalscorer in club history.
The goal also surpassed Darwin Núñez’s winning goal against Nottingham Forest in March 2024 by a minute to become the club’s latest game-winning goal in the Premier League.
On 17 September, a month later, he made his UEFA Champions League debut in a 3–2 victory over Atlético Madrid, at just 17 years and 19 days old, making him the youngest Liverpool player to appear in the competition, breaking the previous record held by Trey Nyoni. One week later, on 25 September, he signed his first professional contract with Liverpool.
Also on 11 April 2026, Ngumoha scored his first goal at Anfield in a 2–0 win against Fulham, becoming the youngest player to achieve this feat, aged 17 years and 225 days, breaking the previous record set by Raheem Sterling.
