Monday Eguavoen, a former Super Eagles defender and current Technical Director of Abia Comets, has exclusively told Completesports.com that the club will not be relegated to the third-tier domestic league, Nationwide League One.
Eguavoen Speaks From Benin With Strong Assurance
Eguavoen spoke to Completesports.com on Tuesday from his Benin residence.
“I’m in Benin now for a personal issue. But I’ll be going to Aba afterwards. I must say, by the grace of God, Abia Comets will not be relegated,” Eguavoen Snr said confidently.
Eguavoen Backs Comets To Escape Relegation Zone
Abia Comets are in the red zone of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Conference A standings, with 12 points from 12 games, and four matches remaining in the fixtures.
“We’ll fight in the remaining games. It’s not yet over because the points difference with the teams above us is not much. So, we will fight till the end and hopefully, by the grace of God, we’ll stay afloat,” Eguavoen emphasised.

Inter Lagos and Beyond Limits are joint top of the table with 24 points each, with Heartland in third place on 20 points heading into the final four games of the season.
