No Murray Doubles For Kyrgios

Nick Kyrgios has backed Andy Murray to do well on his return to action but will not partner him in the doubles at Wimbledon. Murray is due for his first competitive outing since the Australian Open when he teams up with Feliciano Lopez to take on Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah in the doubles at Queen’s on Wednesday.

The Scot underwent a second hip operation at the start of the year after indicating that Melbourne might be his last tournament and the three three-time Grand Slam winner says he is now “pain-free”. A return to singles is unlikely at SW19 although it seems as though he will play in the doubles.

However, good friend Kyrgios will not be on the same side of the net. “I don’t think I want to carry him for Wimbledon dubs,” he joked. “I think he can find someone else to do that for him.” The controversial Australian is glad to see the 32-year-old back on the circuit. “He is a warrior,” Kyrgios added. “He’s good enough to do damage in doubles, especially with Feliciano. I’d almost pay to watch that match.”
