Joel Obi is getting closer to making a return to the Serie A with his club, Chievo who are now on the verge of gaining promotion to the Italian top-flight, Completesports.com reports.
Chievo advanced to the semi-finals of the Serie B play-offs after a thrilling 1-1 match against Empoli decided in extra-time and with three missed penalties.
The Gialloblu needed extra-time at the Bentegodi to overcome Empoli and secure a place in the semi-finals of the play-offs where Spezia are waiting for them.

Empoli’s Alberto Brignoli saved Filip Dordevic’s 56th minute penalty while Amato Ciciretti’s spot-kick was also stopped by Chievo’s Adrian Semper on 88 minutes.
Chievo will meet Spezia in the semi-finals and continue their battle for promotion. Obi has played for Inter Milan, Parma, Torino and Chievo in the Serie A since 2010.
