Okolie Hoping To Move Up In Class

Lawrence Okolie says he is ready to fight for a world title after beating Wadi Camacho to claim the Commonwealth cruiserweight title. The 26-year-old has yet to taste defeat since making his professional debut in 2017, and proved far too strong for Camacho at the Copper Box on Saturday.

In what was a very physical affair, both fighters enjoyed some success in the early rounds before Okolie wrapped things up in the fourth. Okolie landed a big right, which forced Camacho to take a knee, but the fight didn’t last much longer after the referee stepped in following another strong right.

The Sauce believes he has outgrown the British scene and is eager to start making waves on the world stage in the near future. “Staying at British heavyweight is pointless,” Okolie said after the win. “I need to keep fighting and push my level. If there’s a world title, I believe in myself.”
