New Signing, Okorom: I’m Ready To Fight For Enyimba Right-Back Shirt

Enyimba new signing, Stanley Okorom, a right-back, says he’s ready to fight his way into the People’s Elephant’s starting lineup.

Okorom has previously represented Nigeria both at the U-17 and U-23 levels.

He joined Enyimba from MFM FC of Lagos this term and has made several matchday squads, but each time he ended up as an unused sub.

The defender is yet to make his competitive debut since joining the club this season, with captain Andrew Abalogu playing all 90 minutes in the right-back position in the club’s opening three league fixtures.

Not fazef by the fact he has to battle team captain for coach Usman Abd’Allah’s starting team, Okorom says the situation is one that motivates him to work harder, while revealing that it is such fight for places that makes the team competitive.

“I knew I would need to work extra hard to get the chance to play at Enyimba,” Okorom told Completesports.com.

“The competition for a starting shirt is one of the reasons I decided to join the club, so I’m ready for it.

“I will just continue to work hard because I know my time will surely come.”

The 24-year-old says he is ready to make his Enyimba debut whether at home or away.

“I know that the support of the fans makes it easier at home, but I’m a professional. It doesn’t matter where,” Okorom added.

“I will just do my job whenever I’m called. I’ve been in this league for about four seasons now, so there’s nothing for me to worry about.”
