Nigeria U23 male team arrived the Egyptian capital city of Cairo on Thursday evening ahead of Afcon U23 tournament.
A team of 13 players and nine officials touched down at the Cairo international airport at 9pm local time (8pm ) Nigerian time aboard an Egypt airline.
The Nigerian delegation were immediately taken to the city of Ismaila, about 128 km away from the capital city , Cairo and were lodged at Mercure Hotel , same place where the Super Eagles camped prior to Afcon in June.
Coach Imama Amapakabo and his legions are expected to commence preparations immediately ahead of the tournament.
Meanwhile, England based striker, Bright Enobakhare and defender, Anthony Izuchukwu of Nest Sotra in Norway have both teamed up with the rest of squad in Egypt.
Enobakahre, who plays for English Premier League side, Wolverhampton Wanderers has added to the attacking options of coach Amapakabo.
On his part, Izuchukwu was solid in the defence line during the qualifiers against Sudan as he formed a formidable partnership with Olisah Ndah while the Olympic Eagles walloped Sudan 5-0 in Asaba to book the Afcon U23 berth.
Both players are 21 years of age.

Imama and the under 20 coach might not be the best coaches around, but their method or mode of scouting relatively unknown players and how they manage to convince their club coaches to release them gives me some comfort.I just hope and pray that time will permit them to put together these budding talent to achieve great result.Due to FIFA regulations this tournament suffers a lot.
Despite the FIFA rules not favouring the tournament, it comes with its benefits.. The unknown players now have their chance to prove they can make it at the biggest stage.. A player like etobo and ekong would have not be known today if not for this tournament and The Olympic after it, not to mention azubuike and sadiz umar.. Who made their name with this opportunity.. For many of them this is their chance, do well and get recognized and no one can tell where they would find themselves next year
I expected an onyewkre in this tournament, anyway I don’t know all
You mean onyekuru right, I agree totally with you.
may be he skipped there mind, cos Monaco would definitely release him as he’s not in the current plan of his coach. If it’s not already too late make them call asap_
To be honest, Amakakpabor n his crew has got scouting brilliance, they seem to know their way around these players clubs, but putting this to effective use has been a downside. Hopefully they getsl it right pretty soon.
Wait let’s watch the matches first.. Lol… Maybe their performance will give us a clue why their clubs agreed to release them.
Technically, this team is very poor and it is the coach that is to be blamed…they don’t know how to play the boys…it appears they place the boys in a technically disadvantage positions to play. They waited to long to make technical changes and when they do they bring in the wrong player…there is no luck in football o! Play well or get knocked out…l wish the technical crew learn their lessons from Australia defeat.
