Osimhen In Action, Aina Benched As Napoli Beat Torino Away To Keep Slim Title Hopes Alive

Victor Osimhen featured for Napoli who pipped Ola Aina’s Torino 1-0 away to keep slim hopes of their Serie A ambitions alive.

While Osimhen started the game before being replaced in the 90th minute, Aina was an unused substitute.

The result means Napoli remain in third place on 73 points and are five and four points behind Inter (first position) and AC Milan (second position) respectively.

Napoli still have mathematical chance of emerging champions if they win their remaining two games while Inter and AC Milan loses theirs.

David Ospina made a sensational save in the opening eight minutes on Andrea Belotti’s header at the base of the near post, flicking on Mergim Vojvoda’s cross.

In the 61st minute Napoli were awarded a penalty but Lorenzo Insigne saw his effort saved.

It was the fourth time in Serie A this season that Insigne failed to convert a spot-kick, the second against Torino with two different goalkeepers.

Armando Izzo was decisive again on Insigne moments later, sprinting back after the offside trap failed and making the crucial block.

Belotti also sprung the offside trap and his angled drive flashed inches wide.

But on 73 minutes Napoli found the break through as Tommaso Pobega gifted the ball to Fabian Ruiz in midfield, Osimhen’s run took defenders away and the Spaniard’s shot took a deflection off Koffi Djidji to wrong-foot Berisha.
