Osimhen Named Serie A U-23 Player Of The Season

Super Eagles and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has won the Serie A U-23 player of the season award.

The 22-year-old beat the likes of Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic and Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca to the award.

The rankings for the award were made courtesy of the advanced analysis of Stats Perform from the tracking data recorded with the Hawk-Eye System.

The ranking system which is scientifically validated was patented in 2010 with K-Sport.

It evaluates data and technical events as well as positional data.

This enables the analysis of important aspects like movement without the ball, optimal movements, game choices, the contribution to the technical and physical efficiency of the team which allow an objective and qualitative evaluation of a player’s performance.

This is Osimhen’s second Serie A award, as he was also voted the player of the month for March.

Osimhen began his football sojourn in Europe with Wolfsburg in 2017.

He then joined Lille in 2019 and just one season in France Napoli signed the Nigerian for a club record fee of €70 million.

He has scored 18 goals and recorded six assists in 31 games in all competitions for Napoli this season.

Osimhen continue to prove your critics wrong eventhough your goal prowess isn’t as strong as it used to be no thanks to selfish teammates like Insigne, Zielinski, Fabian Ruiz, Politano & sometimes Lozano.

What all this critics don’t understand is that when a good striker is being starved of passing, it get to a certain stage that he will lose his head and begin to doubt his finishing ability simply bcos the passes are not coming in well yet he want to utilise the few passes that come his way hence their will be margin for error bcos of anxiety & being too cautious.

Reason why he is motivated to develop himself more on aerial finishing since that’s the only position he is getting the passes. I believe 80% of his goals is an header thanks to Mario Rui and Di-Lorenzo if not for those full backs ( 2 and 3 ) i guess Osimhen tally for this season won’t be more than 7 goals.

Despite the fact that he his Napoli best players, his teammates has failed to give him the due respect. That’s why Insigne has never been nice for 1ce to give him a spot kick. Osimhen has won about 8 or more penalties this season alone yet he is not allowed to take any.

If he has play all the penalties he won am sure his tally would have been up to 20 Serie A goals this season. Which is a good goal ratio playing lesser games due to long term injuries as compared to the likes of Ciro Immobile, Martinez, Tammy, Vlahovic and the rest. But thank God, brother Insigne is leaving next season. So it’s Osimhen all the way

Also the Coach need to get his teammates upfront to play with him otherwise show them the door and get other players that are ready to play football & stop being selfish.
