The energetic D’Tigress coach led the team to outstanding victories against Australia and Canada in Group B stage matches during the recently concluded basketball tournament at the international multi-sports event.

Wakama’s exceptional leadership inspired courage in the team, helping them qualify from the group stage and become the first African basketball team (men or women) to reach the quarterfinal stage. They were defeated by the eventual winner, the USA.

Wakama’s coaching pedigree earned her this award, which serves as a testament to her passion and unwavering commitment to her job.

Congratulations my Rema but please don’t forget to work on offensive and defensive rebounds next time because that was the reason we didn’t defeat USA.

    Honour well deserved.

To think we only lost to the 2 finalists in the competition..

At 32, I dare say Rena is still on the tarmac. She will definitely reach aircraft stall heights in this profession.

I hope she gets more than just collegiate assistant coach opportunities henceforth.

We were a tad unfortunate not to finish with a medal.
Australia that we beat won the bronze. I don’t know much about this subject, but I wondered why we placed 3rd in the group, while the Australia team that we beat finished 2nd. If we had finished 2nd, we would have avoided U.S. in the quarter final, and it might have been us winning the bronze medal
I guess head to head no dey for basketball. With H2H, na we suppose come 2nd for that group.
Anyway, congrats to the coach and the entire team. A job well done.

The margin of the win they had over France and Canada was the factor, this is some weird point advantage in Basketball lol even though we beat them by a slim margin…They beat France and Canda with a wider margin which gave them more points over us as we both won 2 games.
