Parker Laments Maja’s Disallowed Goal In Fulham’s Defeat To Spurs

Fulham manager Scott Parker has expressed his disappointment following Josh Maja’s disallowed goal in Thursday’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Parker believes the video assistant referee is “killing” football’s excitement but added his side will not surrender in their fight to avoid relegation.

Fulham were beaten 1-0 by Tottenham on Thursday after Maja had a deserved second-half equaliser disallowed.

Mario Lemina was penalised for handball in the build-up, despite his arm being by his side as a clearance struck him.

“It is the rule – I think it’s crazy,” Parker told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I’m complaining at the rule. We want it to be the most entertaining league in the world, with goals. I don’t know what [Lemina] can do. We just need some common sense. We are trying to make football so pure and sterile it becomes unrealistic.”

He added: “We want to see goals and excitement but I am sorry to say that VAR is killing every part of that. You are losing the raw emotion of the game we absolutely love.”

  • I tire for the decision. A ball to hand incident and the players hand was down. The Tottenham defender tried to clear the ball and it hit the fulham players hand and the ball fell to maja who scored. And the referee says its hand ball. I dont know what the rule book says on these things but I just feel the goal should have stood. Great attempt by fulham on,the night. Hope you guys stay up.your playing some good football.

  • That was a clear case of ball to hand, Premier league referees have shown overtime that they are not really better than their counterparts in the 3rd World. They make some terrible calls just like some referees in Africa or Asia. As for Maja, he is a beast, I think our National team coach should make him a permanent member of the Super Eagles. I like his fighting spirit, speed and marksmanship, he reminds me of Julius Aghahowa. I just hope GR will forgo sentiments and his relationship with certain players for good judgement when inviting players to camp in a few days time

  • Seriously, GR is having somenkind of headache now on which players to invite. Everyone is watching all our best players home and abroad. If he mistakenly invites non active players because a certain relationships he has wit some set of players he will definately be crucified

I honestly don’t see why a maja shouldn’t be included in the latest list..

He is playing regularly, in a good league like the epl.

There is no difference between an iheanacho and a maja presently, maja is Even starting more games.

I will be so surprise to see maja being left out of the incoming list for a player in France and Germany who are not scoring as much as maja is..

    This maja boy is good,
