Plumptre: I Would Love To Play For Nigeria At Major Tournaments

Leicester City’s defender Ashleigh Plumptre has expressed her desire to play for the Super Falcons of Nigeria at major tournaments.

Plumptre made this known in an interview with NFF TV, where she stated that she would do everything to earn her place in the team.

She was part of the Super Falcons squad that trained in Abuja last month ahead of the 2022 African Women’s Championship qualifying match against Ivory Coast.

“We have many good players and I enjoyed working with them and the coach.”

“I would love to play for Nigeria at major tournaments, but we’ll see.

“I’m happy to be given the chance to come into the team, but I will have to work hard, so I can remain in there.

“It’s not about me coming from the UK or playing for Leicester City, I have to do and show what I can do.”

Pomptre who plays at the heart of Leicester city defence, made my visit to Quorn memorable early this year. Her being able to combine her impressive footballing ability with her good looks stood her out from the bunch. I personally touted her as the long-term replacement for the legendary 39yr old Onome Ebi, though we have onyinyechi zogg who is also in good form.
With what I know about Pomptre, her dad is a half Nigerian from Owode. And that she loves to play for major tournaments, to me, is certainly better that exhibition games which are mostly not in reconning. Very few lazy individuals care much about exhibition games others mostly don’t pay attention to little minded stuffs.

Plumptre’s and those other foreign born players technical abilities combined with the physicality/athletism of our home grown talent will sure make our SUPER FALCONS A LOT BETTER. Wish you all success in your career and God bless to you all.
