Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has branded Sam Edozie an “incredible young player”, with the attacker impressing for the Citizens during their preparations for the 2021-22 campaign.
The 18-year-old has scored in each of his side’s three pre-season matches this summer against Preston North End, Barnsley and Blackpool.
Edozie was named in the starting XI against Blackpool on Tuesday night and needed just three minutes to find the back of the net.

Guardiola has lavished praise on the winger but has insisted that he will need time to develop into a potential regular first-team player for the Premier League champions.
“As a young talent, having a special quality, a guy who gets to the box with intention to score a goal – it’s so important for wingers,” Guardiola told the club’s official website.
“He’s an incredible young player with good pace. But we have to be patient with him. He had minutes and played good and this is important.”
Edozie joined Man City from Millwall in July 2019 and made the step up from the club’s Under-18s to the Under-23s for the 2020-21 campaign.

NFf should start discussion with the young guy before the predatory England takes over …By the way Guardiola should understand that age is no barrier in making him a great player, what he needs is the opportunity, at 19, he is great to go with first eleven!!
I don’t see most of this foreign borns representing Nigeria… We embarrass ourselves everyday. @ Jimmy it’s not entirely a Nigerian thing….. most African countries have poor management skills coupled with corruption that has ravaged the continent from every corner…..But Many lesser African countries like Mali Guinea Senegal are able to convince their foreign born players to play for them…..HOW…it’s not that this players don’t want us,but do we actually want them?…..Alaba came to us first…..Eze came to us first….. Bassey came to us first and even turned down an England u21 invite for out sake…..Obafemi of Southampton came to us first….Greed is the major problem….. Promoting less talented indigenous players inorder to get kickbacks in their eventual transfer to moshroom clubs….. Collecting bribes for players slot(alaba’s case)…… please we should not blame this players but we should look at the selection process of players and this grassroot coaches should be checkmated.
