Rangers International FC is expanding its rich footballing heritage, with club CEO Amobi Ezeaku officially announcing that the newly formed women’s team will feature in the upcoming Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season.
The landmark development brings the famous “Flying Antelopes” brand into women’s elite club football, offering a massive boost to the growth and visibility of the domestic women’s game.

Ezeaku made the disclosure during a press briefing in Enugu on Wednesday, adding that the club will soon commence open screenings for players looking to secure a spot in the inaugural squad.
He also confirmed that Coach Favour Anieke, will continue to take charge of the female team.
“The female team would enjoy the same level of attention, support, and recognition given to the Rangers men’s team,” Ezeaku stated.
Addressing the team’s home ground options, the CEO noted that while the Awka City Stadium in Anambra State remains a viable choice, management’s primary preference is for the women to share match venues with the men whenever possible.

Furthermore, Rangers are laying down comprehensive plans to fully integrate the women’s team into the club’s main operational structure once the ongoing renovations at the historic Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium (The Cathedral) are completed.
This bold step aligns with modern football standards of holistic club operations, successfully bridging the gap between men’s and women’s professional football under a legendary banner.
