Rooney: Why I’m Not Aspiring To Be Man United Manager

Derby County boss, Wayne Rooney has said that due to his commitment to the club and a desire to achieve something with them, he would not be aspiring to become Manchester United or Everton manager now.

The former England attacker, however, said that he desires to manage the two “great clubs” in the future.

Rooney is currently doing a spectacular job under difficult circumstances at Pride Park, but hints that he would not mind becoming Everton and United boss.

Manchester United are still struggling in the league despite replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Ralf Rangnick some months back and Rooney believes that United’s decision on who becomes the club’s new boss in the summer must be taken with caution.

“The decision at the end of the season, whether Rangnick stays or someone else comes, has to be the right one,” he said.

When asked if he would take the job at Old Trafford, he said: “Everton and Manchester United are two clubs in the future that I would love to manage. I would love to go in there and challenge myself.

“They’re two great clubs. I said a couple of weeks ago in the press conference, ‘I’m doing a job at Derby and my focus has to be on that’, because it’s a day-to-day job that needs all of my attention to get the best out of myself and the players.”
