Scottish Cup Final: Balogun, Dessers Feature As Idah’s Strike Earns Celtic 1-0 Win

Cyriel Dessers and Leon Balogun were in action for Rangers who lost 1-0 to rivals Celtic in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday.

Balogun played for 90 minutes while Dessers was taken off in the 46th minute.

Ireland-born Nigerian forward Adam Idah was the hero for Celtic as his 90th minute goal earned his side the win.

It is Celtic’s 42nd Scottish Cup title while Rangers have won it 34 times.

The last time Rangers won the Scottish Cup was in 2022 when they beat Heart 2-0.

Celtic end the season with the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup titles.

For Rangers, their only success this season was winning the Scottish League Cup

  • With the absence of ekong , a player like balogun should have been invited especially when fit.. this is a game where experience is needed and if ekong is not available why not balogun.. our defense looks light but I pray we do well in our games

    Samuel chukweze did not make team as he was still classified as “injured” and was invited by the Nigerian coach. What an irony, where there are many fit players who should have been called. It seems as the call ups to the national team is a right to some players, if not l don’t see reason why an injured player should be call to the national team. The same thing happened at the AFCON.
