Sheffield United Step Up Bid To Sign Dennis From Club Brugge

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has moved ahead in his bid to sign Emmanuel Dennis from Club Brugge after admitting he has made contact with clubs and agents of players he is intending to bring to the club for next season.

Dennis has been linked with a move to Sheffield United following an impressive campaign for Club Brugge in the Belgian Pro League.

The Nigeria winger hugged the headlines after netting a brace in the UEFA Champions League clash against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu early in the season.

The 22-year-old also scored a sublime goal in Brugge’s Europa League clash against Manchester United.

He scored five goals in 20 league appearances for the club.

“We have 100 per cent made contact. I had a board meeting last week, where I put my proposals to the board in terms of the way we take the club forward,” Wilder told Yorkshire Live.

“There’s always that discussion – short, medium and long-term. Short Newcastle, medium end of the season and long term the future of the football club.

“I’m a hands-on manager, I have my fingerprints on everything.

“We have made recommendations to the board, obviously it’s been affected by the situation that we have of losing money.

“That’s a fact the club is going to lose a big chunk of change and the owners are in the process of buying the club as everyone knows, so it’s been adjusted (budget for next season), but I will try and get out of it as much as I possibly can to improve the football club and the playing staff and that has been the theme right the way through the windows.”

Arsenal, Wolverhampton Wanderers , Newcastle United and Borusssia Dortmund are said to be interested in Dennis.

Club Brugge are also willing to sell the versatile winger for €25m.
