Siewert promises Terriers response

Jan Siewert has promised Huddersfield will deliver an improved performance when they welcome Wolves to the John Smith’s Stadium on Tuesday. The Terriers limped to their 13th defeat from their last 14 games as they were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle on Saturday, a result that leaves them rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table and a full 14 points adrift of safety.

Siewert has also lost all four of his matches since succeeding David Wagner as manager last month, with Huddersfield’s last win in any competition actually coming in the reverse fixture against Wolves at Molineux back in November.

Siewert, who saw his side go down to 10 men against Newcastle after Tommy Smith’s first-half dismissal, knows his side weren’t at the races at St James’ Park, but he has promised they will deliver an improved performance in front of their own supporters on Tuesday.

“There are things we should still have done better,” the manager told reporters. “I will first of all talk to my players about what this is. But we will show another face on Tuesday. “There are no excuses. There are reasons why we are bottom of the table and we have to work on this.”
