The Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on Russia in a friendly match in 2025, reports Completesports.com.
The friendly is being put together by FIFA’s match agent, Jairo Pachon.
The date and venue of the game is expected to be announced once all the details are sorted.

“Our representatives are cooperating with the Russia Football Federation on the organisation of a friendly match between Russia and Nigeria. This match is about as good as it gets,” Pachon was quoted by Russian journalist Bartlomiej Banasiew.
The Super Eagles will be involved in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in the international windows in 2025.
The game could be staged towards the end of the year.
It will be first meeting between Nigeria and Russia at the senior level.

Eguaveon should be able to work over Russia being that, Russia has been embroidered on crises due to the war between it and Ukraine.

We are saying the same thing. My kick would’ve been for Eguaveon to play either France, Germany or Spain. May be Japan as well.
The current Super Eagles’ management though hugely indigenous, has the wherewithal to contend with any team in the World. On the proposed Nig. Vs Russia, if for anything, the match should be played on a neutral ground.

You lied. Friendlies aren’t international games so it can participate in friendlies. My concern is that Russia is presently unsettled.
Nigeria vs Russia??? Lol NFF is upto something because why is it war fighting Russia and not Sweden or Slovenia??? NFF and greed can even agree to play Palestine in war torn Gaza if it was possible as long as money will enter their pocket they’ll sell the boys.

USSR is powerful in football. Playing Soviet Union will give competition to the Super Eagles like playing Brazil.

This does not give Nigeria a good look in the international community. Especially in the eyes of the West and NATO allies. By agreeing to this friendly, the world will see it as Nigeria being ok with the Russian invasion of Ukraine!
