Super Falcons and Washington Spirit midfielder Deborah Abiodun has successfully undergone surgery for a hip injury.
The successful surgery was confirmed in a post on the X handle of Super Falcons Show on Friday.

Abiodun was placed on the NWSL’s 45-day injury list in early September 2026 and then moved to the season-ending injury list by the Washington Spirit.
The club confirmed she would undergo surgery that week after the hip issue ended her 2026 NWSL campaign (she had made nine appearances, including four starts).
Before the procedure, Abiodun spoke openly about her nervousness in an emotional video, noting it was her first surgery and expressing heartbreak at being unable to compete or even kick a ball, which she described as “my life.”

The injury came after a tough period for the Nigerian international, including the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
She is expected to focus on rehabilitation and will miss the rest of the NWSL season as well as upcoming international assignments with the Super Falcons.
