Opta supercomputer has given Morocco a 1.9% chance of winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup, placing them in the 12th spot ahead of every other African side in their forecast, Morocco World News reports.
Senegal are the next-highest African team on the list, ranked 19th with 1.4% chance of lifting the trophy.
“Morocco… are the highest-rated African team after they were superbly shock semi-finalists in Qatar.” Opta stated.
“The supercomputer expects Morocco to pose a real threat and their opener against Brazil on 13 June is perhaps the standout fixture in the first week of the tournament.” They added.
Spain has emerged as the top favorite to win the tournament with a 16.1% chance. France follows closely in second place with a 13% probability, while England ranks third at 11.2%.

The tournament hosts are not expected to be in the running for the title. Opta reports that the United States has just a 1.2% chance of winning the trophy, while Mexico stands at 1%. Canada faces even steeper odds, with less than a 1% chance of becoming world champions on home soil.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off on June 11. Morocco will play in Group C, starting with a big match against Brazil on June 13, in New Jersey.
The Atlas Lions will then travel to Boston to face Scotland on June 19, before playing their final group game against Haiti in Atlanta on June 24.
