Egypt captain Mahira Ali has declared that the Cleopatras are determined to make a strong statement when they face defending champions Nigeria in their final Group C fixture at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday night.
Mohammed Jamal’s side head into the contest on the back of defeats to Zambia’s Copper Queens and Malawi’s Scorchers.
Egypt will also be looking to avoid a repeat of their only previous meeting with the Super Falcons at the competition, a crushing 8-0 defeat at the 1998 edition.

Despite the daunting challenge of taking on the nine-time African champions, Ali insisted the players are fully motivated to produce a spirited performance and bow out with their heads held high.
“We know Nigeria are one of the strongest teams in Africa, but we want to give a good account of ourselves,” Ali was quoted by CAFonline.
The match will kick off at 9pm Nigerian time at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.
