Former Barcelona midfielder Andrés Iniesta has advised his former club to sign Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as the ideal long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski.
The Catalan giants are in the market for a new centre-forward following Lewandowski’s departure to Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire earlier this summer.

Recall that both Alvarez and Osimhen had been among the names considered by Barcelona’s recruitment team. However, the club quietly shelved their interest in the Nigerian striker, with reports indicating they viewed a deal as financially unworkable given his market value and wage demands.
However, Iniesta, in a chat with NTV Spor, noted that while young star Lamine Yamal is exceptional, he should not be deployed as a central number 9.
He urged sporting director Deco to secure the services of the Nigerian international this summer.
“Lamine Yamal is a fantastic player, but I wouldn’t prefer him playing as a number 9. If Ferran Torres leaves, I would strongly advise Deco to sign a striker.

“I don’t think Atletico Madrid will let Julian Alvarez go. I would suggest they sign Victor Osimhen. He’s a fantastic goalscorer and one of the best replacements for Robert Lewandowski.”
The Turkish champions initially set an asking price for the Super Eagles forward but have backtracked and are ready to keep their prized asset.
