Zabaleta Chides Barcelona After Defeat To Real Valladolid

Former Argentina defender Pablo Zabaleta has expressed disappointment in Barcelona’s performance during the 3-1 Laliga defeat to Real Valladolid on Tuesday, May 23 at Jose Zorilla.

Danish defender Andreas Christensen gave Real Valladolid the lead in the second minute of the game.

Cyle Larin converted a penalty kick in the 22nd minute to double the lead for Valladolid and Gonzalo Plataade it 3-0 in the 73rd minute.

Robert Lewandowski scored a consolatory goal for Barcelona 11 minutes later.

Speaking on ESPN FC Zabaleta said Barcelona players should show the zeal to win despite having already won the Laliga title this season.

“Another embarrassing performance from Barcelona,” Zabaleta said

“There was no desire from Barcelona players, no intensity, I don’t know a poor performance really, credit to Valladolid because they’ve done the job, three points, brilliant for them.

“I would like to see if the Barcelona players realize they play for Barcelona because even if you’ve won the title, you need to give more.”

Barcelona have a total of 85 points after 36 Laliga matches.

Up next for the Catalan club is a game with Real Mallorca on Sunday, May 28 at the Camp Nou.
