The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to move the next Africa Cup of Nations 2025 in Morocco to December
According to reports from Egyptian journalist H. Amir, on his +90 Sports Show, via Sports World Ghana, CAF has discarded the initial plans of hosting the tournament in July 2025 for December 2025.
It was gathered that the football body, initially, chose to host the 2025 tournament in the summer
But the tournament was going to clash with the newly expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup to be played in the USA which led to the new date.

Morocco won the bid to host the 2025 AFCON ahead of a joint bid from Nigeria and Benin with Algeria officially withdrawing theirs.
The AFCON has always been held in January-February although the 2019 edition in Egypt was played in June and July.
The timing of the tournament is always an issue especially with European clubs due to the release of key players.

This is bad. This is really bad for the AFCON brand.
One day soon CAF win shift the AFCON because the U17 Women’s world cup is holding in another continent in the same month.
I won’t blame players for refusing and clubs refusing to release players. Why has everything in Africa have to be backward. Caf is very irresponsible and stupid at times…Summer would have been perfect as clubs would be off season.
I may be wrong but I think FIFA influenced it when they came for AFCON 2023 final and the flag was handed over to Morocco. Infantino and Motsepe talked about the possible dates at the final. CAF initially stood for summer though until now.
Perhaps FIFA will ensure clubs release players since CAF shifted theirs for the revamped CWC
This is utter rubbish the Asian cup was hosted as the same time as Afcon….What has the club world cup got to do with a massive tournament like Afcon. This is why this tournament is not respected cause the organizers never respect themselves.
It is strange nobody can see that CAF headed by RSA and EGY are doing these on purpose to the disadvantage of countries like Nigeria and Senegal that depend on European based players and to the advantage of their respective Southern and Northern African nations whom mostly depend on their local league players. Egg headed Pinnick will not fight this fight but will continue to manipulate NFF to destruction.
Caf will destroy African football if something is not done to curtail this madness. Any serious European team will not buy a player that will miss December vital schedules. Football in Africa is becoming more political little wonder why Egypt is multiple time winners because the schedule Favors the African league to release players on time for them to prepare unlike Nigerian players that only get to camp a week to the tournament proper.
How does Europe get to succeed in scheduling their tournament at the end of every season? Can’t Caf follow suit like Copa America to also fix their tournament in line with Europe at the end of club football season??? Caf is full of excuses like Adam and Eve when they know they’re doing the wrong thing. No wonder Klopp called the Caf tournament a certain name and everyone started cursing him and wailing. This is what we get when we allow occult people that only benefit when majority losses to lead our sports!!!!
