The Executive Committee of the Anambra State Football Association has approved 17th and 18th December, 2025 as the official dates for the elections to fill the existing vacancies in the State FA Board and the Local Football Councils.
This was revealed in the meeting of the board of the Executive Committee of the Anambra State FA held virtually on Wednesday, 3rd December, 2025.
Those in attendance are former Nigeria international Chikelue Iloenyosi (Chairman), Victor Aniekwena (Vice Chairman), Cordelia Akanna (Member) Ralph Chidozie George (Member) and Ralph Nweke (Ag. Secretary).
The committee met to deliberate on important issues concerning football administration and upcoming LFC & Executive by-Elections in the state and resolved as follows:
The board heartily congratulated the Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, and the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, on their re-election victory. The Board expressed profound appreciation for their total support, encouragement, and commitment toward the growth of football in Anambra State.
The board discussed the expiration of the tenure of the Local Football Councils and the four unfilled positions of membership of the Board and resolved to immediately hold elections as directed by the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF).
It unanimously affirmed the appointment of members of the Electoral and Appeals Committees for the conduct of elections into the Local Football Councils and to fill the vacant positions in the State FA Board.
The electoral Committee members are
Barr. Uche Okeke (Chairman), Barr. Obi Ebosie (Member), Barr. Chidozie Ogbuefi (Member), Hon. Francis Agbatta (Member), Hon. Lawrence Nwekwe (Member)
While the Appeals Committee members are
Barr. Ugochukwu Adilieje (Chairman), Chiadi Obidi (Member) and Barr. Cyril Ezimaka (Member).
The board praised the efforts of the Chairman for his sponsorship drive especially for the Anambra State Football League which returned after so many years of which the season’s finale comes up on Sunday, 7th December, 2025 at the Neros Stadium in Nanka.
Also, the board unanimously passed a Vote of Confidence on the leadership of the Anambra State FAably led by Iloenyosi, commending his dedication and efforts toward repositioning football in the state.
