Leon Balogun insists the Super Eagles can claim the title at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles lost 2-1 to hosts Cote in the final of the last edition of the competition.
Nigeria last tasted success on the continent twelve years ago in South Africa.
Balogun however believed that the three-time champions must show ambition, and confidence in their quest to win the title.

“The AFCON, well, it’s a tournament,” Balogun told Flashscore.com.
“You want to win. Every team that comes there, comes there with ambition.”
“So, yes, you have to take it for what it is. If they want to be the champions of Africa, (Nigeria) probably have a point to prove after the last AFCON.”
“So, you have to go there with a lot of ambition, a lot of confidence, but also with a clear plan.
“And this clear plan will certainly also be necessary for the World Cup qualifiers, because we are in a precarious situation where we cannot afford to lose points.”
“Therefore, maximum concentration and the highest level of performance are required.”

The same Balogun who is owed a backlog of match bonuses is here expecting Nigerian players to win the Afcon on empty stomach.
NFF are a disgrace. The management of football here is not blueprint for success. If the players manage to qualify for the world cup despite the poor treatment from this corrupt administration, they will become national heroes.
NFF is a shame. This football management is not a recipe for success. The players will become national heroes if they are able to make it to the World Cup in spite of the unfair treatment they have received from this dishonest government.
NFF are not serious. They better pay these players their wages or else blood will flow. Things are getting worse by the day in this country. To japa self has become too expensive. One agent said I should bring 10 million naira. If there is no light tomorrow I will have to watch the match in a viewing centre.
