Barau FC of Kano will kick off their 2024/2025 NNL Super 8 Promotion Playoffs campaign with a gritty opening contest against Yobe Desert Stars today – Saturday, 5 July – at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Completesports.com reports.
The opening fixture of the playoffs was confirmed on Friday night after the organisers conducted the draws for the eight-team tournament.
The match pits the Northern Conference Group C winners against the Group D runners-up. Kick-off is set for 9am.
At 11:30am, Wikki Tourists will step onto the pitch before the Southern Conference action begins with Kun Khalifat facing Crown FC of Ogbomoso at 2pm. The day’s fixtures will conclude with Warri Wolves taking on Osun United at 4pm.
Rest Day Sunday, Then Monday Fireworks Resume
Sunday, 6 July, has been designated a rest day, with the playoffs resuming on Monday, 7 July. The day begins with Yobe Desert Stars taking on Doma United at 9am, followed by Wikki Tourists locking horns with Barau FC at 11am.
Later, Kun Khalifat and Warri Wolves will battle for supremacy at 2pm, before Crown FC and Osun United round off the day’s fixtures.
Completesports.com reports that the final round of Northern Conference matches will be played simultaneously at 9am on Wednesday, 9 July. Wikki Tourists will face Yobe Desert Stars at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, while Doma United and Barau FC clash at the Austine Jay Jay Okocha Stadium, Ogwashi-Ukwu.
Final Group Games Promise Grandstand Finish
In the Southern Conference, the last group games will also be played simultaneously at 11am. Kun Khalifat will square off with Osun United at the Jay Jay Okocha Stadium, while Warri Wolves and Crown FC battle at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.
The top two finishers in both the Northern and Southern groups will earn promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2025/2026 season.
