CitySports FC, the official football club of CitySports Africa, is set for a new season in the Nationwide League One (NLO) — bringing fresh energy, bold ambition, and the same unwavering commitment to youth empowerment through football.
Founded in 2024 as an extension of the CitySports Africa mission, CitySports FC was created to provide a professional pathway for homegrown talent.
This season, the team proudly steps onto the field wearing the CitySports Africa 5-Year Anniversary commemorative jersey — a symbol of the journey, resilience, and shared commitment that have shaped the institution’s impact across the continent.
“We’re not just in the league to compete — we’re here to leave a mark,” said Shola Opaleye, CEO of CitySports Africa.
“CitySports FC represents the dreams of every young player we’ve trained, supported, and believed in over the years. This season is a celebration of how far we’ve come — and how far we’re ready to go.”
This new season in Nigeria’s Nationwide League One represents another significant step for the club, which has grown into a fully-fledged competitive football program focused on developing professional football talent and discipline in young players across the continent.

Last season, CitySports FC finished top of their group table, showcasing the team’s potential and discipline. Despite their impressive run, they narrowly lost out on promotion in the final playoff match against First Bank FC — a result that has only fueled the team’s hunger and drive for the upcoming season.
With this new season in the NLO, the club is set to compete on a national level, giving its players the opportunity to showcase their skills, grow competitively, and inspire their communities.
The 2025 season will see CitySports FC compete against some of the most promising football clubs from across Nigeria. The team is built on a philosophy of fast-paced, skillful, and disciplined football, rooted in the values of teamwork, integrity, and youth empowerment.
As the season unfolds, CitySports FC aims to not only compete at the highest level but also to highlight the importance of investing in sports development.
The club invites fans, partners, and supporters to follow the journey, attend matches, and be part of the movement that believes in the power of sport to shape the future of Africa.
