IT PROMISES to be a BLAST when the first NaijaSuperFans hangout holds this weekend in Lagos.
Club president Mumini Alao says the inaugural event is planned to bring registered members of the club together for the first time since the club was launched in June this year.
Alao says: “This is one of the reasons NaijaSuperFans was established – to create a platform where our readers can meet to socialize with each other and also meet and greet some of their sports heroes and famous media personalities.
“We are rolling off with media personalities and that’s why we have the likes of Deji Omotoyinbo and Bode Oguntuyi of the Sports Express fame on the menu. Godwin Dudu Orumen was a pioneer of sort in private sports programming on television while Dare Esan is editor of our own long-running Complete Sports. Then of course, there’s myself. NaijaSuperFans members can look forward to a great fun time with us.”
Alao says that the main menu at the inaugural Naijasuperfans Hangout will be football. “Yes, it’s football and we have picked 24 August because four of the English club sides with the largest following in Nigeria will be in action. Deji will lead the Manchester United fans, Dudu leads the Chelsea fans, while Dare and myself will lead the Arsenal versus Liverpool battle in the final match of the day. Bode will tell us how newly-promoted Aston Villa plan to survive in the Premiership.
“It will be a funfilled day with a lot of bragging, “yabis” and entertainment. Lucky members will go home with prizes for answering simple quiz. The most active NaijaSuperFans member since our launch will also be announced and will receive a prize.”
However, attendance at the event will be restricted. “It’s a members-only event because we need to control the crowd,” Alao says. “Even our registered members must apply and receive an entry ticket before they can attend. It’s not going to be open to just everybody because the venue has limited space.”
