Ezenwa Confident Super Eagles Can Win Fourth AFCON Title At Egypt 2019

Super Eagles goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa says the team is ready to win Nigeria’s fourth Africa Cup of Nations title in Egypt, reports Completesports.com.

Gernot Rohr’s charges are back in the tournament after missing the previous two editions.

The West Africans are among the favourites to win the tournament, and Ezenwa who plays for Nigeria Professional Football League side Katsina United is upbeat that they have the quality to go all the way and win it.

“The camp is going on well and the most important thing is that everybody is focused on the competition in Egypt, so we can give 110% best for our beloved Nigeria,” Ezenwa told reporters after the team’s training at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

“I am relaxed because the atmosphere is wonderful and it’s you making sure you do your thing well to the final cut.

“Everybody is in top spirit saying they want to win the Nations Cup, but I believe we have the talents, experienced players and the young ones that are coming up .

“The most important is we are praying for grace of God to go with us in this competition, you may have a special thing, if you don’t have the God’s grace, you are going nowhere, that is why am praying for grace.”

  • I would urge our team to remain quietly Confident and Humble. All this talking and Bragging will get them nowhere. Just do the talking on the field of play please instead of the media. Thank you

Abi ooo, we have not yet recovered from Anthony Joshua’s shock. No more shocks ooo, humble.

  • This guy should be ashame of himself, a nobody goalkeeper came and took the number one jersey from him. Train more hard young man. Good luck at the afcon.

Nobody keeper you say? When uzoho became deportivo LA coruna interim number 1, you were one of those to shout call him o, the guy is good after saves. Now he’s nobody. Nigerians insatiable. What do you say about cillessen Holland keeper? Bench all through LA liga but still number 1 for Holland till he says he’s tired. Abegi!

Of you like don’t train well God won’t be there to win for you guys, aight. Oyinbo no send nah you work hard. Please press men other countries are watching their bragging. Lesa talk.

  • There is a difference between confidence and boasting,
David told Goliath you uncircumcised philistine I will share your flesh to the birds.
    Goliath responded.
    Self belief is never boasting.
    This is what Rhor lacks.
Can you imagine going into a context with the mindvsent you may loose?
SE Fears no foe untill Rhor came.
We did not fear Spain in 1998, we did not fear #3 rated Bulgaria in 1994, but we must be very humble about Madagascar and Burundi?
Is this mere humility or has it transended into timidity and lack of self belief?

If only spain and bulgaria had been humble about us at those times, they wouldnt have suffered in our hands. If only france was humble before meeting senegal in 2002, maybe they wouldnt have been humiliated. Maybe if we had shown angola enough respect in 2006, they wouldnt have denied us a place in Germany.

When even got so confident of beating brazil in the Qfinals of france 98 when we hadnt even met denmark in the round of 16 yet. We are still yet to recover from the humiliation Denmark handed to us that fateful night (our heaviest loss at a world cup till date)

  • **mindset**

  • A case of headlines not following the narrative.

Nowhere in the interview did the goalkeeper say “We can win it”. The closest thing he came to saying that is

“The camp is going on well and the most important thing is that everybody is focused on the competition in Egypt, so we can give 110% best for our beloved Nigeria,”

So “we want to win the Nations Cup” has been twisted to say “we can win it”
