Gennaro Gattuso has defended Victor Osimhen after the striker failed to find the back of the net in Napoli’s 4-0 win against Pescara on Friday, reports Completesports.com.
Osimhen scored six goals in Napoli’s pre-season games against against D’ Aquilla and Teramo but was caged by Pescara.
The Nigeria international played for 67 minutes in the game.

His replacement Andrea Petagna bagged a brace and an assist.
“Osimhen didn’t train yesterday as he went to France to renew his visa, which may have effected him slightly,” Gattuso said after the game.
“Petagna did very well in attack. We must not only look at the goals, but at the overall performance of the team, and we certainly didn’t do very well today.”
Napoli will face Portuguese Primeira Liga club Sporting Lisbon in their final pre-season game on September 14.

I don’t think it was a poor showing at all. He was his usual lively self, disturbing the opponent’s defense, and came close to scoring several times. He also provided a great assist that was not converted, even though the goal was wide open.
A striker will not score in every single match. This is why I kicked against all these unrealistic expectations. Now, a fairly good performance is being labelled poor, just because he did not score.

Just my words @ Pompei, Good talk. Our press men use of words can be very disappointing sometimes. There was nothing poor in Osimene’s game yesterday and I m 100% sure, Napoli fans will agree with that.
CSN please change this rubbish headline Asap. Who told you he was poor?? Someone came back from a Trip and missed the final training before the match and still came up disturbing the hell out of the opposition defence and now you call him POOR?? You guys are sick
Victor will definitely improve in Napoli’s next game,as he has always done in the previous Clubs he had played for in the Past.
I’m optimistic he will finish as one of the highest goal scorers for Napoli in the 2020/21 Season
