Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard has disclosed that he never sought to emulate Cristiano Ronaldo’s intense, fitness-focused approach, preferring to remain true to his own style during his career.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Belgium international stated that he wanted to be himself.
“Yes, but I told him I didn’t want to. I’ve never gone too far, but I’ve always wanted to be Hazard on and off the pitch.

“If my friends invited me to dinner, I wouldn’t say no, and if I wanted a drink, I wouldn’t deny myself. Cristiano is Cristiano, I am Hazard. I just wanted to be myself and play football.”
Hazard established himself as one of the Premier League the greatest ever wingers during his seven years at Stamford Bridge, but after leaving, found it hard to keep his fitness levels up.
Hazard retired from football in October 2023 as the age of just 32 whilst Ronaldo has kept his career going at nearly 41 years old as he represents both Al-Nassr and Portugal.
