Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay has described Kevin De Bruyne as an incredible player and has warned the chasing pack in Serie A that they are more than ready to defend their Scudetto.
De Bruyne has joined Antonio Conte’s side on a free transfer after 10 trophy-laden seasons at Manchester City and arrives at a club that lifted just the fourth Serie A title in their history last season.
Speaking to BBC Sport at Wimbledon, the Scottish international stated that De Bruyne’s quality will make Napoli the team to beat next season.
: “He’s an incredible player and obviously someone who will bring a lot of quality to the squad. Having someone like him in our squad is fantastic.

“Bringing players of this quality and nature into the squad is very, very important, and that’s where we want to build on, without settling for what we have.”
McTominay also believes the move abroad has strengthened his mentality.
“The people in Naples are incredible, they’re so passionate and everywhere you go there are people who say ‘Forza Napoli’ and they want to speak to you and have a conversation and that inspires you every time you go on the pitch because they care,” he said.
“It’s different, a totally different way of life over there – the way you eat, the way you live and all that. It gives you more mental strength.
“I’ve always lived very close to my mum, so I could go whenever I wanted.
