NPFL: Kwara United Thrash Adamawa; Reclaim Top Spot, Akwa Utd Beat MFM Away

Kwara United reclaimed top spot in the Nigeria Professional Football League after a comprehensive 5-0 home win against Adamawa United in Ilorin on Sunday, reports Completesports.com.

Stephen Jude bagged a hat-trick , with Michael Ohanu also scoring twice for the home team.

Kwara United top the standings with 30 points from 17 points.

Kano Pillars moved to second position on the table following a 2-1 away win against Wikki Tourists.

Nyima Nwagua put Pillars ahead in the 13th minute after he was teed up by Ebuka David.

David added the second in the 27th minute from Mustapha Jibrin’s assist.

Stephen Chukwude reduced the deficit in the 66th minute.

At the Agege Stadium, Akwa United also beat their hosts MFM 2-1.

Just before the stroke of half time, Clement Ogwu restored parity for the home side via a well taken free-kick.

Ikechukwu Nwani put Akwa United back in front following a beautiful assist from Ndifreke Effiong in the 52nd minute.

In Makurdi, Lobi Stars thrashed Rivers United 4-1.

Ossy Martins scored a brace, with Samuel Matthias and Douglas Achiv getting the goals for the home team.

Fortune Omoniwari scored Rivers United’s only goal of the game.

Abia Warriors continued their resurgence with a 3-1 thumping of Katsina United at the Okigwe Township Stadium.
