Aliyu Zubairu, Head Coach of El-Kanemi Warriors, has exclusively told Completesports.com that he wants nothing less than victory from his team in Wednesday’s President Federation Cup Round of 16 clash against Enyimba in Abuja.
El-Kanemi Warriors are the current President Federation Cup defending champions, having thrashed Abia Warriors 4-0 in the 2024 final of the prestigious domestic competition.

The clash is one of the standout fixtures of the Federation Cup Round of 16, with the ‘Oriental Derby’ between Rangers and Heartland, slated for Awka City Stadium, tagged as the ‘Star Match’ of the day.
Zubairu, who also serves as the National U-20 Flying Eagles Coach, revealed that securing a win at the Bwari Township Stadium Abuja, would serve as a special ‘Sallah gift’ from his players.
“Yes, it’s a normal fixture, just like a league match. Both teams are NPFL sides, so you can expect a tough game,” Zubairu said.
“We’re the defending champions, and opponents always put in extra effort when facing the title holders. Don’t forget, Enyimba is a big and strong club in Nigeria and beyond.

“As I said, it’s going to be a tough match. I’ve made it clear to the players—I want a ‘Sallah gift’ from them. I want them to make this Sallah a memorable one for me,” he added.
Zubairu will lead the Flying Eagles’ charge at the 2025 U-20 AFCON, which kicks off in Morocco on 27 April 2025.
Enyimba have won the President Federation Cup four times, while El-Kanemi Warriors have lifted the trophy three times.
