Former Super Eagles defender Sam Sodje has called for a comprehensive overhaul of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), arguing that the current structure is failing Nigerian football.
Expressing concerns over the management and direction of the Super Eagles, Sodje, in a chat with Brila FM, stated that without deep structural change, the federation is not moving forward.
“It’s gone now we have to start thinking about where we are as a country, the NFF has to be reformed, the old guards has to give way, we have to understand that preparation is key,” he added.

“We have to start preparing for the next one because we are so behind when it comes to organization, technically we are so behind as well.
“When I say technically I am not talking about Eric Chelle and the technical crew of the national team. I am talking about the technical committee at the NFF, they have to do better.
“We have to know exactly what we want for our country, it’s not fair to the fans we deserve better.”

Who will bell the cat? The same self styled, morose, inept, decrepit current leaders at glass house? They will not.
Imagine. Gusau saw the template Pinnick used and failed in 2022 world cup aspirations but thought to go multiple levels better.
In Pinnick’s time, our cadet teams were declining but still qualify for cadet championships.
Gusau said no lol.
In fact, we are nothing to write home about at all levels of cadet football – men and women, the feeder teams, ideally of the senior national teams.
48 teams were to qualify for the FIFA world cup.
Gusau refused still.
FIFA deducted points from SA. Gusau said no.
Eritrea magic happened.
Gusau said no.
Playoff final that must be the final national team lifeline for those over spoilt senior men of the national team, Gusau said no, players, you can go on strike, I don’t care.
And the same Gusau wants to shepherd 2030? As how?
Thankfully, 10 nations are going from the continent.
And we surely know one or more will be in our world cup qualifiers group next year.
Let’s see if Gusau and his board can defy nature and give what they don’t have.
South Africa passed through this route (2002 – 2026) without qualifying for the world cup and heavens did not fall
Heavens won’t fall if we miss 2030.
48 teams, we didn’t appear. Very good.
Lack of organisation and strategic thinking are our major drawbacks. For as long as we retain penny-counting executives who don’t fund preparatory games, assuming we’ll win any African game with our star-studded team, we are doomed to perpetual failure. We won’t win even courts with our legal gladiators–as this is an unjust world.
Can’t we adopt rugby or cricket as a national sport and disband the NFF for good? Saves a lot from self-poisoning with Panadol.
Thanks to the interviewer, Sodje, and CSN for giving this issue the attention it deserves. Here is my review with respect to team performance and management,

Yes, the board executive and technical committee of the nff have performed below average and should be replaced with administrators with proven integrity and success.
