Esther Okoronkwo is expected to be sidelined for about six weeks after sustaining a knee injury during AFC Toronto’s league clash against Halifax.
The Super Falcons forward suffered a meniscus damage in the encounter.
Milanovic Reveals Injury Blow
Head coach Marco Milanovic is, however, confident the team can cope with Okoronkwo’s absence.
“We do have an update. Esther suffered a bit of a meniscus damage to her knee and the initial prognosis is that she’ll be out for about six weeks,” Milanovic said.
“She’s obviously a key player for us, just like Sam was. When she first came in, she was initially out for the season.

“I love this group of players, I have a lot of confidence in them. So, any injury present any opportunity for someone else.
“We have a lot of depth up top and I’m very confident that those players will take the opportunity and make the most of it.”
Okoronkwo will be hoping to recover in time for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The biennial competition which will be hosted by Morocco will start on July 25.
The 29-year-old registered two goals, and six assists at the last edition of the competition.
